Breabach are currently in the studio working on the new album. Recording is taking place at Old Laundry studios in Glenfinnan and is being engineered by Iain Hutchison and produced by Andy Thorburn. The music couldn’t be in any better hands! We are all really excited about how the new material is sounding and can’t wait to let you hear it!
The album is due for a tentative released in March 2012 – however keep your eyes and ears peeled over the next few months for more news and previews.
We are also excited about some up and coming gigs in September. We will be at Flyde festival on the 4th, Alden Biesen (Belgium) on the 10th and Munsterland festival in Germany on the 16th. Keep your eyes on the live dates page for more!
You can regularly keep up to date with the band on our facebook and twitter pages.
All the best for now!!
It is with great sadness that we announce the departure of Donal Brown and Patsy Reid from the Breabach ranks. It’s been a fantastic few years with them but now they have both gone on to follow their own paths and we wish them all the best of luck! However we now look on with great excitement for the future as we welcome in two new band members – James Duncan Mackenzie will take over pipe and flute duties while Megan Henderson joins us on fiddle, vocals and step dance! The band feels refreshed, positive and we look forward to exploring what James and Megan can bring to the table!
We go into the studio to start work on the new album at the end of August, material is coming together and ideas are bouncing around so keep your ears and eyes peeled over the next few months and we will keep you up to date with how we are getting on.
Summer is upon us (apparently) and we are looking forward to getting back out and gigging. End of June brings us to Tayvallich, Gigha, Mull and Sark. We are also appearing at Speyfest, Shrewsbury Folk Festival, and the Montelago Celtic Festival in Italy! Check out the Live Dates page for more info!
We are currently on tour in Quebec with the mighty Le Vent du Nord! We are having an absolute ball and thanks to everyone for coming along to the gigs. To see where we are playing next, have a look at our Live Dates page.
We are absolutely delighted to have been nominated for Best band at the 2011 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards! We can’t wait to get dressed up and head to London for the awards ceremony in early February – should be great craic! For more info please visit the BBC website.
